Railway applications – Communication, signalling and processing systems – Safety related communication in transmission systems. IEC 62280:2014 gives the basic requirements needed to achieve safety‑related communication between safety‑related equipment connected to a transmission system and is applicable to the safety requirement specification of such equipment to obtain the allocated safety integrity requirements.

Abstract

This international standard defines a reference architecture, threat analysis, classification criteria for transmission systems (Categories 1–3) and the defensive measures required so that safety‑related messages exchanged over transmission systems meet allocated safety integrity requirements. It consolidates requirements previously split between closed and open transmission system parts into a single document.
