Water-tube boilers and auxiliary installations. Part 2. Materials for pressure parts of boilers and accessories
Full title and description
GOST R 55682.2-2013 — "Water-tube boilers and auxiliary installations. Part 2. Materials for pressure parts of boilers and accessories" (Russian: Котлы водотрубные и котельно-вспомогательное оборудование. Часть 2. Материалы для деталей котлов, работающих под давлением, и для вспомогательных устройств).
Abstract
This national standard specifies requirements for materials and semi‑finished products used to manufacture pressure‑bearing parts and welded attachments for water‑tube boilers and associated auxiliary equipment. It is a national modification of the corresponding European/EN document and sets mechanical, chemical and non‑destructive testing requirements for steels, castings, forgings, pipes, fasteners and welding consumables intended for boiler pressure parts.

Scope
The standard applies to materials and semi‑finished products used for manufacturing pressure parts of water‑tube boilers and items welded to pressure parts. It covers selection and specification of steels (including ferritic, martensitic and austenitic grades), castings, forgings, seamless and welded pipes, welded fittings, fasteners and welding consumables, together with mandatory mechanical properties, inspection and testing requirements tailored to boiler service conditions. The document is a national modification of EN 12952‑2 and includes additional provisions to reflect Russian practice and referenced national standards.
Key topics and requirements
- Classification and permitted material types for pressure parts (sheets, pipes, castings, forgings, fasteners, welding materials).
- Minimum mechanical properties (tensile strength, yield/conditional yield, elongation) and temperature‑dependent requirements for materials used in boiler service.
- Chemical composition limits and traceability requirements for specified steel grades and alloys.
- Non‑destructive examination and acceptance testing requirements to detect surface and internal defects.
- Requirements for welding materials and procedures where welded joints are part of pressure boundary components.
- References and normative cross‑links to Russian GOSTs and harmonized EN/ISO test methods used for verification.
Typical use and users
Used by boiler designers, manufacturers, material suppliers, welding and quality engineers, inspection bodies and regulatory authorities involved in the selection, procurement and verification of materials for water‑tube boiler pressure parts and accessories. It is applied where national compliance with Russian technical regulations and accepted boiler practice is required.
Related standards
Part of the GOST R 55682 series for water‑tube boilers; related parts include standards for general provisions, design and calculation, manufacturing technology, inspection and other material‑ or component‑specific parts. The 2013 edition is derived from EN 12952‑2:2001 and references multiple national GOST and ISO test standards for mechanical and chemical verification. When working to current requirements, users should consult GOST R 55682.2‑2017 (the superseding edition) and other parts of the GOST R 55682 suite.

FAQ
Q: What is this standard?
A: GOST R 55682.2‑2013 is the Russian national standard that defined material requirements for pressure parts and accessories of water‑tube boilers; it is the national adaptation of the European document EN 12952‑2.
Q: What does it cover?
A: It covers permitted materials (sheets, pipes, castings, forgings, fasteners, welding materials), their chemical and mechanical property requirements, testing and inspection rules, and references to test methods required for boiler pressure‑part fabrication and acceptance.
Q: Who typically uses it?
A: Boiler manufacturers, material and welding suppliers, quality and inspection engineers, certification bodies and regulators working with water‑tube boilers in jurisdictions that reference Russian national standards.
Q: Is it current or superseded?
A: The 2013 edition has been superseded — it was replaced by GOST R 55682.2‑2017; the 2017 edition was prepared and registered in 2017 and introduced into force on 1 January 2019. Users should apply the 2017 edition for current requirements.
Q: Is it part of a series?
A: Yes — it is Part 2 of the GOST R 55682 series ("Water‑tube boilers and auxiliary installations"), a multi‑part suite covering general provisions, materials, design and calculation, manufacturing, inspection and other related topics.
Q: What are the key keywords?
A: Water‑tube boiler, pressure parts, materials, steels, welding, tensile strength, elongation, non‑destructive testing, EN 12952‑2, GOST R 55682.
